Family & Me
Yoga for the whole family! Adult and Child (Toddlers and Up) learn and play Yoga together, using games, discussion, music, and more. Children learn the basics of Yoga, both the physical movements, and the mental practice of focusing and calming the mind, while adults get to stretch, strengthen, and play with their little Yogis.

HIIT
In this fast paced, efficient, and breath centered High Intensity Interval Training Class we will use our bodies and a variety of easily attainable props (small weights or soup cans, blocks or books, etc.) to build our aerobic capacity and strength, while ensuring our form always supports the function of movement. We will utilize weights to increase strength and keep our heart rate going by mixing high intensity movement with recovery periods in order to improve both our aerobic and anaerobic fitness! This class is creative, fun, and open to all levels.

Hot Vinyasa
Breathe, sweat, and connect to yourself and others in the HYS "Harlem Hot" community.
In our Harlem Hot classes, we supplement the internal heat generated by our movement and breath to better access our "Tapas "or inner fire, for a sweaty, cleansing flow.
Students will move through Sun Salutations incorporating standing poses, back-bends, twists, balance poses, inversions, and forward folds - with poses changing each class depending on the class theme or anatomical focus. Clear alignment instruction will support you in staying safe in your body, and an emphasis on maintaining a steady and easeful breath will anchor you through the heat of the practice. Each class will end with a restorative final rest to allow the benefits of the practice to integrate. Practitioners of all levels are welcome - though it is recommended that you have some experience in a non-heated Vinyasa class before practicing in a heated room.
*Harlem Hot classes are heated to be hot enough to facilitate internal warmth, and increased sweating and stretching, without heating the muscles to a stretch that goes beyond your body's safe range of motion. The temperature in our hot classes is typically between 80 and 90 degrees depending on external temperatures, and the number of folks in the room. We have filtered water and we recommend that you bring a water bottle and a towel!

Vinyasa Yoga

In this Open level class students will move through a well rounded series of traditional Sun Salutations. Yin & Restorative
Combining short sometimes sassy yin yoga holds with long go-deep snooze restorative poses, this is your chill-day practice to relax and center. When our joints’ full expression of mobility is underused, the connective tissue loses elasticity. In yin yoga, we compress connective tissue, rather than stretch it, by gently holding long seated poses. Restorative yoga uses props to safely and comfortably support the body in supine yoga poses, fostering complete relaxation. Together, these two practices allow students to let go of holding, relieving stress and tension. Great complement for active practices or students looking for an after-spa-like feel. Students of all levels, pregnant persons, and those recovering from injuries welcome. Light chanting music is played.
