Hi Harlem Yogis,
Wishing you a Happy, Healthy, and JOYful New Year! For those of you who joined us for our New Years Eve or New Year's Day events - it was a pleasure to mindfully transition into 2024 together with open hearts and Intention. This January, we are exploring Intention as our theme.
Unlike a resolution, which focuses on goals or outcomes, an Intention is a more holistic approach to guiding our actions. Intentions require us to attune not just to the thoughts of what we want to achieve, but also our emotions and the feedback from our bodies. They are rooted in the physical and emotional experiences of the present. At the beginning of many asana classes, the teacher may invite you to set an Intention for your practice by tuning into your breath and body, and allowing a word or phrase to come to you. In this present moment, we ask, "What do our body, mind, and heart desire?" This embodied mindfulness encourages us to align our actions with our innermost values rather than external goals.
As we reflect on the natural re-set offered by the New Year, the practice of setting Intentions can offer a welcome path to positive change, fostering a deeper connection between our goals and our lived experiences. Have you set your intentions for the year? If so, we'd love to hear about them! Comment below and at the end of the month whichever Intention gets the most likes will win one free Yoga Class or $20 OFF a workshop!!
