It’s May—and it’s time to Play !!!

This month, we’re celebrating Lila: the divine play of the universe. In the yogic tradition, Lila (or Leela—yes, you get to play with the spelling too!) represents the joyful, spontaneous expression of the Divine through every phase of life—creation, growth, change, and renewal. Through the lens of Lila, life isn’t a test to endure—it’s a dance to join. The sacred isn’t hidden away; it’s everywhere, waiting for us to step in and move with it.
Whether we’re flowing through asana, stretching under an open sky, or simply walking with intention, we are embodying this divine play by inhabiting our bodies with presence and curiosity. I always say in class: curiosity leaves no room for judgment. And when we explore our bodies with wonder rather than critique, we discover how sacred they truly are—in this moment, just as they are.
Connecting with the divine doesn’t have to be solemn or serious; sometimes, it looks like laughing in Warrior II or feeling the breeze during Downward Dog on a rooftop at sunset.
So come play with us—on your mat, in the studio, under the trees, or up on the roof. This May, let joy and PLAY be your practice.
