March: The tender, potent in-between.

March is the threshold — the quiet turning from Winter toward Spring. A season of transition.
And with any transition, we are invited to pay attention. To appreciate what is ending and create space for what is beginning. To honor the time it takes for one state to gently become another.
This weekend in Teacher Training, our anatomy teacher spoke about how the body itself transitions — how muscle gradually becomes tendon, tendon becomes bone — not in abrupt lines, but through seamless, intelligent shifts based on what the body needs. Each tissue with a distinct role, yet all part of one unified whole.
Nature does not rush its transformations. It evolves.
The Transition from Winter to Spring carries that same intelligence.
In winter, we descend. We cocoon. We turn inward. As spring fully awakens, energy rises and expands outward — what yogic philosophy calls Vruddhi, upward growth.
But March is the liminal space between. The tender, potent in-between.
The weather may sway between extremes. Our bodies begin adjusting to the growing light, even while snow rests on the ground. At home, we may feel the impulse to clear, to organize, to lighten — preparing for what’s to come. In our practice, we may feel drawn toward something new: perhaps stronger movement to release stored energy, perhaps deeper grounding to steady ourselves.
Rather than rushing toward what’s next, this month we invite you to honor this rare and ephemeral moment of unfurling.
Take a moment to feel the warmth of the sun as it slowly regains strength.
Notice the richness of the earth as it softens. Trust the quiet rooting that makes rising possible.
This March, we Root to Rise.
