Anjali / Divine Giving

Hands in Namaste, seated meditation

One of the best parts of December and the Holiday season (in addition to the cookies) is the opportunity to spread joy by giving to our loved ones. This December, we are exploring the giving of the holidays with our theme Anjali, or "Divine Gift".

In many classes, each time we come to the top of our mats we join our palms together at the heart in Anjali Mudra, symbolizing unity, humility, and the act of offering ourselves to the practice.  We do this over and over again, embodying a return to the heart and the present moment so that the practice becomes more than just an action. It becomes a state of being. When we are in the Yoga Room together, moving and breathing consciously in union, the state can be powerfully felt.

"Yoga helps us to cultivate mindfulness and self-compassion..."

Through consistent practice, Yoga helps us to cultivate mindfulness and self-compassion, which then ripple outward as kindness and generosity toward others. Whether it’s through offering time, attention, or love, yoga helps us recognize that giving nourishes both the giver and the receiver, creating a cycle of connection, presence, and love.
